Family Constellations

Family Constellations are a method of personal growth and psychological exploration developed by the German psychotherapist Bert Hellinger. This approach is based on the idea that within every family there exists a “systemic field,” an invisible network of bonds and energies that deeply connects its members, even across generations.

The goal of Family Constellations

Is to bring to light hidden dynamics, unconscious loyalties, and family entanglements (i.e., unconscious identifications with other members of the family system) that may negatively influence our life, relationships, work, health, or emotional well-being.

How a Family Constellation works

During a session, the participant presents a personal issue. The facilitator guides them in representing their family system using other participants (in a group) or objects/symbols (in an individual session). These representatives come into contact with the “field” of the system and, through body language and emotions, deep dynamics emerge.

What it is used for

Family Constellations help to:

  • Release emotional and relational blockages
  • Recognize and honor the fate of one’s ancestors
  • Restore order and balance within the family system
  • Foster greater personal awareness and freedom

An experiential approach

It is not a traditional verbal therapy, but an experiential and phenomenological process that works on a deep and often non-rational level. Changes are not always immediate but can gradually manifest in everyday life.

My journey with Family Constellations began with Thomas Irzl (Monza) in 2008.
